Who am I? Erick Meza. I am 27 years old. Originally from Central Florida, I have lived in Boston, NYC, and San Francisco for a mix of college and work – in 2023 I returned to FL and now call Tampa home. My day job is in finance, and admittedly I’m quite hooked on finance / investing although I don’t identify as a finance bro. Life has been interesting so far. Actually, life is fascinating – period. That’s really the point of this blog.

Here, I will share my thoughts as unfiltered as I deem appropriate for the Internet (you get it). I think a lot about my life, life, things that happen, have happened (historically too), why / how they happen, the state of the world, is it right / wrong, philosophy, and so on.

I am quite passionate about reading – I don’t think it counts as money spent if a good book is purchased. In my more casual free time, I like to listen to music, play Fortnite, watch anime / soccer, do NYT crosswords with no help, and exercise. Often though, my favorite thing to do is nothing at all. Isn’t it funny how thinking and doing nothing can look so similar?

Disclaimer

It’s not really a secret for those who know me that I am prone to thinking out loud or willing to say things others have the common sense not to say. I promise I will not post writing with the intention to offend or be provocative, but inevitably I will likely offend someone at some point. From me to that future person: just because I wrote something does not mean that it is a statement that dictates the decisions I make or how I treat others. You are going to have to trust me on that one.

Comment Guidelines

Please be respectful and considerate if you decide to leave a comment on any post. You can leave comments anonymously and they are not moderated before being published (I can still take them down after the fact). I did this in the spirit of transparency and honest dialogue. Take your time to think of what you really want to say (also because I don’t think you can retract a comment on your side once posted).

If the comments begin to be counterproductive, I will simply remove that feature. Thanks!
